September 13 – 19, 2018: The Devil

In this card, The Devil is depicted as a Satyr, a class of lustful, drunken woodland gods. In Roman culture, it is depicted as half man, half goat. You may have seen a similar creature in Disney‘s 1997 animated film, Hercules.

The human side of the devil represents sinful behavior. The goat side is symbolic of the scapegoats in our lives that we blame for our problems. The chains on the man and the woman are loose enough; they can lift them off to escape. Yet they stay voluntarily. The Devil is as much about recovery as it is about addictions.

This card is ruled by Capricorn, which is hosting the planet Saturn for three years (2017 – 2020). Saturn in Capricorn may have you yearning for more structure and stability in your life. You’ll be more focused on what responsibilities you voluntarily take on, especially in relationships.

On the 14th, Mercury in Virgo moves opposite of Neptune in Pisces. This energy will make you feel very practical in your thoughts and precise in your actions. Neptune in Pisces only happens once every 165 years, and the planet stays in the sign for 25 years. This reveals new information and incites a new surge of spirituality into the world.
