Five of Pentacles description
Two sickly and poor characters are trudging through a dark and snowy night. They are clearly cold and miserable, with no protection from the elements. They walk a path that has not been easy. But behind them is a Church or a Temple with beautiful stained glass windows. They do not stop or go inside for reprieve in the storm. They pass by, unable to find spiritual direction, and disillusioned by their lack of faith. The world goes on without them. They must lift their heads and open their eyes to see how just good life can be.
Upright meaning
The Five of Pentacles appears when your resources are being tested. Pentacles are associated with physical, tangible energy like money, health, food, etc. You may experience a financial loss or health issues, or you may be caring for someone who has fallen ill. Progress is slow, and it may be hard to recognize opportunities for improvement. Give yourself a break. Do not throw yourself on the sword just yet. There is a way out of the darkness. This will pass. Even if you are not experiencing a loss, you might be overly worried about something that has not happened yet. Be careful, the more you focus on what you do not want, the more likely you are to manifest your fears unintentionally.
Reversed meaning
When reversed, difficult times are coming to an end and yet you find it difficult to find happiness or meaning in it all yet. Pay attention to shifting your energy from loss and lack to safety and abundance. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help, or seek the company of friends to distract you from the mundane. You might be feeling lonely or your energy is completely spent. Engage with people and/or people that make you feel energized and not people who deplete your life force. In relationships, this card can appear when someone is feeling dismissed, ghosted, left out in the cold. On a personal level it can be associated with feeling lost on a spiritual level, having a moral crisis, or feeling undeserving of happiness.
