Five of Wands description
A group of five are jostling and fighting with their wands. It’s not portrayed as a vicious fight to the death, more like a friendly competition. Each one is unique in appearance, with differing ideas and perspectives. It’s as though all of them are talking and shouting, but no one is listening. They all think that they are fulfilling their rightful purpose in this situation. The green grassy background shows opportunity for growth, creation, creativity. The fact that they are on a hill shows that there is a need for ground rules and fair play.
Upright meaning
The Five of Wands appears when your capabilities are being tested. You’re being initiated into a group, and/or engaging in new problem solving activities. This is a big adjustment, with different levers being pulled for you to rise to this occasion.
You might feel like you’re being pulled in five different directions, either by friends, family, coworkers, or different projects or areas of your life. It’s important to bring organization and open communication into the picture. Listen to what others have to say, even if you disagree. This will increase trust and increase the likelihood that they will listen to your side of the story with a more open mind.
Conflict resolution can be very positive and productive and bring a team closer together. Find balance between the different opposing energies in your life by creating harmony. Be the peacemaker. Everyone needs to move in the same direction in order to make any progress.
Reversed meaning
Reversed Five of Wands is a hint that you’re avoiding conflict, and in the process, internalizing conflicts. This card can represent a chaotic or toxic situation that you wish would just go away. It’s time to clear the air and confront issues head on. While there’s a chance that the group or the project may fall apart, things can’t go on this way. Remember, conflict resolution can actually be helpful when approached with transparency and fairness. You may be facing your own internal conflict over where you stand on certain issues and values. Just when you think you have a clear perspective, the picture shifts out of focus again. Other may have very strong opinions of what you should or should not do, but you’re the one who has to live with the consequences of your choices. So do what’s best for you to find balance with your inner truth.
