Seven of Pentacles description

The Seven of Pentacles is a farmer who has sowed his fields, fertilized, plated, watered, pruned, and done all he can to make his crop grow. There’s nothing left to do but wait and let nature’s magic work. The farming process shows the practical and unchangeable circumstances that you are dealing with, and instructs on how to work with them.

A farmer is a keeper of tradition who values common sense, routine, hard work, and seasonal cycles. He wears orange, the color for creative expression, and blue, the color of inner spirituality. He leans on the hoe because while he has the tools capable to do the job, now is the time to pause and take a break. His facial expression shows that he is proud and contemplating the future. The mountains behind him suggest the mountain of skills and knowledge he has gained so far. He has a comfortable nest egg.

Upright meaning

This card appears when you need to have patience! Keep track of the details, chip away one task at a time, and work with the natural rhythms of life. This is the time between sowing and reaping. You might be considering a major investment, spending your savings, or going through a period of personal renewal. Use this pause in the work to evaluate your progress thus far and adjust your strategy for the long term. It might be a good time to take a retreat or a short break from the day to day. Rest assured, all of your hard work is going to pay off.

Reversed meaning

In reverse, the Seven of Pentacles can mean that you’re getting little to no reward or recognition for all of your hard work. Your efforts may be scattered and not bringing the results you expected. Consider this a learning opportunity and pivot quickly. Take a look at your to-do list and do a cost versus benefit analysis. Then, prioritize accordingly. Perhaps you’ve been pouring your heart, money, or efforts into a job, project, or relationship only to find out it’s all for nothing. Consider that it might be time to walk away from a situation that’s not worth any more of your efforts.
