Seven of Swords description
In the Seven of Swords, this person is stealing swords from an army camp, and he thinks he’s getting away with it. His smug expression shows that he’s quite pleased with himself. But, he’s been spotted! In the background, a soldier in the camp is holding up his sword and pointing this way. Their campfire represents that transformation of instinctual nature. His red hat and boots are sign that he feels intensely about this plan of action. The fact that he takes five swords, but leaves two is significant. The five swords are associated with the five elements (earth, air, fire, water, spirit) or the five senses (taste, smell, touch, hear, see). This can also represent delegating, creating boundaries, or recognizing your own limitations.
Upright meaning
The Seven of Swords can mean you are leaving a situation but you are taking your troubles with you. It can be a sign that someone is being deceitful or sneaky. You could be the victim of betrayal. Or, if you are the one keeping secrets, everything is going to come to the surface and you will be exposed. You could be trying to get away with something, or planning to get what you want. Speak your truth in your words and your actions. Take stock of your swords, and think about removing some things that are no longer serving you.
Reversed meaning
In reverse, this card can mean that you are deceiving yourself. Perhaps you’re suffering from imposter syndrome, doubting your abilities. Or your subconsciously sabotaging your own efforts, manifesting failure due to your fear. It’s time to trust in yourself. You have all that you need to achieve your goals. It might help to streamline your efforts and trim some energy cords, thoughts, or commitments that are not in alignment with your goals. You can’t run away from yourself, so it’s time to face your fears! Honor yourself, and in doing so, you will honor others in your life. This is a test of your skills and your knowledge. Just try to stay out of your own way!
