Six of Cups description

The Six of Cups features a pair of siblings that are filling their cups with flowers. The older of the two is handing a cup to his younger sister (when applying the card, gender and relationship is not specific). The flowers represent their growth and healing. A number of signs point to the importance of protection. They are in a walled community, a guard is seen in the background patrolling the perimeter, and the younger sibling is wearing gloves. They both wear hooded scarves, a sign that wisdom is being shared between them. The family crest is carved into the pillar beside the children. It’s a bright, clear, happy day.

Upright meaning

This card can mean that you’re getting a blast from the past; perhaps memories are flooding in or a person from your past popped up out of nowhere. It is not limited to sibling or family relationships. The pair in the card can represent a budding relationship between soul mates, or a mentor-mentee relationship. This energy is about giving and receiving. We need both to learn and grow. This card is associated with children, and can represent the children in your life or future children (pregnancy). Children set good examples for how to stay present, open-minded, and curious. The world is still full of magic, and this an invitation to spend more time in that state of childlike innocence and wonder.

Reversed meaning

The Six of Cups reversed can be a sign that you are acknowledging your own personal history and you need to appreciate what your unique experiences have taught you. You would not be who you are today without the good time and the bad times that brought you to this moment. It’s okay to reminisce about the past, but you also don’t want to get stuck. When you’re not living for the present, you risk missing opportunities that are right in front of you. Take your own personal walks down memory lane but express gratitude for the here and now. This card is also an invitation to play! Perhaps you’ve been out of touch with your inner child lately, and you need to learn how to receive love and magic again.
