Ten of Wands description
In the Ten of Wands, you are buckling under the weight of your burdens and responsibilities. You’ve gathered up all of your wands, like a farmer harvesting his crop, and now it’s time to go to market. The plowed field of the work you accomplished is visible in the background. This is where the rubber meets the road. This is a stage card, so these burdens that you carry may be self-imposed, like a costume that you wear for the act. The orange coat is a nod to masculine aspects of the divine spirit. You have your head down as you push forward without evaluation outer circumstances. The wands are very tall, with new growth at the top, so your problems are growing faster than you can handle.
Upright meaning
The Ten of Wands brings themes of stress and hard work. You have difficult tasks to complete, and you bury yourself in your work. You might feel guilty for not meeting certain expectations, but you taking on too much responsibility. Perhaps your goals are disillusioned. When this card appears, it means you can not see the forest through the trees. The creativity and passion that started you on this journey lies in the shadow of the mountain of work that needs to be done. This can be a temporary time of hard work to accomplish something. If so, keep your nose to the grindstone and see it through. However, you can not expect yourself to keep up this pace for the long term. If there is no end in sight, consider letting some of your burdens go. Remember why you started, and prioritize.
Reversed meaning
When the Ten of Wands is reversed, it’s a message that you don’t have to do this alone. You’re becoming the martyr of your own power or conquest. You might be carrying burdens that are not necessary, or keeping your burdens private. In a business sense, there are only so many billable hours in a day. It might be time to hire a helping hand or delegate some of the responsibilities. Pulling the Ten of Wands in reverse is like bumping into a wall over and over again, unable to break through. The nine is the last step before the completion of the ten. This situation will not weigh you down for much longer. Do things that make you feel lighter, like eating healthy, taking a walk, cleaning your home, organizing, getting rid of clutter, etc. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, it’s important to have a support system right now.
Ten of Wands quote
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Thomas Edison
