The Hanged Man description
The Hanged Man is all about perspective. When you hold the card right side up, he is upside down, tied around the ankle. This represents being tripped up on something, and it’s time to see things in a different way. If you turn the card upside down, the Hanged Man is right side up. He looks like a ballerina doing a pirouette. He has a calm expression, he doesn’t appear to be strained or in distress, he’s almost meditative. The halo shows he is tuning in to his higher self. The tree is a sign of strength and connection to life itself. This card is major flip of the script in your life.
Upright meaning
The Hanged Man is associated with yoga, dance, gymnastics, etc. He is also a sign of a spiritual awakening, a new perspective, or a new idea that brings a sense of calm or inner peace. He can be associated with a meditation practice or any path that you are studying to reach enlightenment. When the Hanged Man appears, you might find yourself sacrificing your material needs in honor of following your spiritual beliefs or achieving your dreams. This could be a crossroads, and one new path is opening up, one that allows you to follow your true nature.
Reversed meaning
In reverse, the Hanged Man can be a sign that you are surviving instead of thriving. You’re just trying to hang in there, but your control of a situation has been compromised (temporarily). This can sometimes manifest as a new piece of information that changes everything, or someone turning the tables on you. The tie around your ankle can be associated with getting tied up by self limiting beliefs and/or the judgements and opinions of others. Take a time out, or else the universe might hit the pause button for you. Be still and quiet enough to hear your inner wisdom. Focus on letting go on what which no longer serves you.
The Hanged Man quote
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Wayne Dyer
