The Moon description

The two towers in the background of the Moon tarot card are the same towers we see in the Death card, only now you are much further along on your journey. The pillars are a gateway to knowledge, often representing an achievement, a major milestone, significant birthday, or a chapter in life that is in transition.

Before you reach the next stage, you need to swim in deep waters, some interpretations call this the pool of forgetfulness. The crawfish (or some say its a lobster) emerging from the water is a sign that’s time to let down the defensive shell you’ve erected to protect yourself and let deep feelings and fears surface. The dog and the wolf or coyote in the scene represent your basic learned behaviors vs your desires and instincts. The moon rises in the back, glowing in the reflected light of the sun.

Upright meaning

The Moon card is a sign that your intuition is at its peak. Be open to messages and insight from dreams and signs. Reality is an illusion. Not all is what it seems. Aspects of yourself, or difficult memories that have been repressed, are coming to the surface. It’s time to address these things and heal so you can move on to the next phase of life. Take things slow, and do not make any rash decisions. You might not see everything that’s really there until you give it some time. Consider working with the phases of the moon by keeping a moon journal or meditation on the moon phases, for example.

Reversed meaning

Reversing your Moon is sign that you are ignoring an inner calling or ignoring a bigger lesson. You may afraid of tapping into your intuition or having some crazy dreams that are difficult to interpret. Consider writing down your dreams or using a voice record app to explain them out loud as soon as you wake.

This can also be a sign that you a night owl at the moment, perhaps working nights, taking night classes, or catching a second wind of energy in the late hours. You would also benefit from engaging activities that balance your yin, feminine energy. Eat warm, nourishing foods. Get plenty of rest. Avoid negative news, shows, media, etc. Work in some low impact cardio and stretch your muscles.

The Moon quote

“I am the sun and moon and forever hungry, the sharpened edge where day and night shall meet and not be one.” Audre Lorde
